Lubricating Your Equipment: Which Battery Powered Cordless Grease Gun to Use?

In today’s competitive environment where every dollar counts, finding ways to save money without compromising quality and service are an important part of staying competitive. If you are lubricating more than 4 or 5 points per day, using a battery powered cordless grease gun will save you money in labor cost (not to mention employee moral). Like all power tools, a battery powered cordless grease gun does most of the hard work for the technician doing the lubrication. Which one should you use? This question can be addressed both as which brand and which kind. Battery Powered Cordless Grease guns are available in 12, 14.4, 18 and even 24 V.The key is to maximize the cost at the point of purchase with the work life between charges of the battery. If you need use more than 9 tubes of grease in an hour, you should look into a centralized lubrication system. If you use less than that, buy the gun that give you the battery work life you need at the best price. Remember the lower the voltage, the lower, the power, fewer tubes of grease between charges and the lighter the unit will be. No reason to buy a larger, heavier, and more expensive gun, if the excess capacity it offers will not be used. There are two major players in this market; Lincoln Lubrication and Alemite (both owned by the Harbor Group.) Alemite was the first to market in the U.S. with a battery powered cordless grease gun. Lincoln, with a larger market presence was quick to follow. Even now, the Alemite gun will give higher flow and generate more pressure with a longer overall product life. The Alemite 14.4 volt model, will dispense at least 10 tubes of grease between battery charges, provides maximum flow and pressure and if you do your homework, has the best price. There are many retailers selling the Alemite 14.4 (585-B1) at bargain prices. As always do your own checking and make sure you get free shipping and handling on your order. A few minutes on a Google or Bing search will save you both time and money when you go to buy your Battery Powered Cordless Grease gun.
